Project OITO takes digital inclusion to «Vida Feliz»

OITO (Online Technological Inclusion Workshops) is already being implemented in the «Vida Feliz» program as a result of the partnership established between the Tempo Livre and ICVS – School of Medicine, University of Minho.

Users of the Vida Feliz program, developed by Tempo Livre with the support of the Guimarães City Council, they began their participation in the OITO project, which aims to boost digital inclusion among the elderly.

Promoting digital literacy, trying to fill a need that became evident during the period of confinement, facilitating communication and access to information digitally by the elderly population, are the objectives of EIGHT.

The OITO project is part of the ICVS Population Health domain in partnership with the P5 Digital Medicine Center and its mission is to promote digital inclusion, enabling the population aged 55 or over to use the smartphones, namely, for the use of information for health promotion and for interpersonal contact at a distance, so important for emotional balance.

The training program is divided into eight face-to-face workshop sessions and among the contents we highlight configuration operations, use of email, installation of applications, use of the communication application "WhatsApp", research and viewing of videos of interest on the channel «Youtube» (orienting to encourage the practice of physical exercise, for example) and advice on the use of «Google Fit» (incentive to monitor health data via mobile phone).

In the development of the program, the Symptom Evaluator of the P5 Digital Medicine Center called “Special Chapter” will be applied, which consists of registering, installing and teaching participants to use the computer application.
