The Pilot Program “Most Active Women” - promoted by Tempo Livre and by the City Council of
The SW-UP Sport for Women in Urban Places project was developed between 2018 and 2019, within the scope of a project co-financed by the Erasmus + program of the European Union and had the Municipality of Guimarães and Tempo Livre the partner entities.
The SW-UP project's mission was part of the European policies to promote female participation in sport and physical activity and paid particular attention to the barriers that women face, namely in urban environments, looking for to make them more accessible, safe, and friendly to sports.
This project included sporting events, seminars and awareness-raising lectures that sought community involvement, social inclusion, equal opportunities, and an awareness of the importance of physical activity in improving the health of all, particularly women.
The SW-UP Sport for Women in Urban Places consortium involved ALDA - European Association for Local Democracy (Strasbourg, France), the project's leading partner, the IRS- Istituto per la Ricerca Sociale (Milan, Italy), the Municipality of Guimarães (Guimarães , Portugal), Tempo Livre (Guimarães, Portugal), Comune di Corbetta (Corbetta, Italy), the association “Polisportiva Corbetta” (Corbetta, Italy), the Ajuntament de Granollers (Granollers, Spain), Mulier Instituut - Centrum Voor Sociaal-Wetens (Utrecht, Netherlands) , the Municipality of Ramnicu Sarat (Romania) and the city of Sofia - European Capital of Sport (Sofia, Bulgaria).
